The Katonah Outdoor Sculpture Event
Mr. Robert Spinazzola will be showcasing his sculpture at 419 Mt. Holly Road, Katonah, NY 10536 from 2-6 PM on Saturday, June 22, 2019.
The Exhibition will be taking place outdoors on a beautiful property that will display select sculptures from 38 years of his artistic career.
Many of the pieces are representational as his nine foot leaping “Tyger” while; others are abstract as his newest work, “True North, Hockley Place”. What highlights Mr. Spinazzola’s work is his ability to animate his figures with a sense of movement. He draws upon his Detroit background where he worked in several auto plants while attending Wayne State University to develop his artistic vision. Ms. Georgette Gouvia, of the Journal News wrote; “Gates of Eden sculpture is an elegy for the Motor City in the age of the No-Longer- Big-Three. In the steel and oil work, a wolf bares he teeth at Eden’s door, which turns out to be part of an unpainted, upside-down Chevrolet. It’s a brilliant metaphor for our times, really- at once familiar and unusual, visually succinct and viscerally on the money”.
Mr. Spinazzola’s work has been displayed in several museums and galleries throughout the Northeast in his 45-year career. Several of his pieces are in major corporate collections including; The Gilbert Silverman Properties, PepsiCo, General Electric and Pfizer Inc., as well as several local Bedford and Katonah properties.
Mr. Spinazzola has been awarded several honorariums: The Meredith Outdoor Sculpture Competition, Meredith, NH, 2017, The Rosen Outdoor Sculpture Competition, Boone, NC 2001 and First Prize, The Albert Jacobson Award, Art of the Northeast, New Canaan, CT 1992.
A rainout date for the outdoor exhibition will be June 23, 2019, 2-6 PM.
